Sometimes novelty alone just isn’t enough. Case in point: The U.S. Money Prepaid MasterCard has a few features that, while unique, are accompanied by hefty fees. One such feature is personalized money checks. Pitched as an alternative to expensive money orders, U.S. Money Card holders can get three checks for $3.95, although keep in mind that it costs an additional $1.50 for check authorization and clearing. So, depending on what you are paying for money orders, this may or may not be a cheaper alternative. Also bear in mind that you have to call the company and pre-fund each check and get an authorization code before actually using it. Failing to do so subjects you to a $14.95 fee. Study the terms of these checks closely before using one.
There are other fees to be wary of. It’s true that this card offers free SMS text balance and transaction alerts to keep you informed about account activity. Unfortunately, that’s a much-needed feature because, unlike most cards on the market, there is a charge for insufficient funds. Other unusual fees include a $2.95 monthly fee for secondary cards, account-to-account transfer fees of $1.50 as well as fees in case a purchase is declined and for getting help from bank tellers.
Bottom line: The fees on this card are very high and the features, while interesting, are not enough to make up for the many charges.
Cardholder Reviews of US Money Card by Check into Cash
Frank-
Greetings and thanks for sharing your consumer opinions about the US Money Visa. I just checked and it appears they are still in business (not of our business). In fact, they have a cashback holiday promo on until 10/31.
So, I’m curious what number you called and if you could try again (unless you’ve called multiple times)? Pls advise.

i opened an account up a US money card at Check into cash in Fenton Missouri. I Just received a bonus check from my employer. And i called the number on the back of the US money card and it is disconnected. If this issue is not resolved. I plan on contacting the FBI and filing a wire fraud complaint against Check into Cash. And US money AKA First View LLC, Metropolitan commercial bank. This is over $4000,00 that i really worked hard earning. And i will go above and beyond for all involved to be arrested and charged.

I cashed a check at check into cash and the money was loaded onto a valued customer Us money visa. My very first attempt to use the card after activation it was denied! Walked across the street to an ATM and transaction went through?
Used the card a few more times being declined half those times for no reason. Have had this card for 3 days and on Saturday after using it in the ATM at a local store, every purchase transaction has been declined!
Will not allow me to log in says invalid card/ password. When I call it says my balance is $2400?
THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Calling the cards customer service # only allows you to change security info….GREAT!
Had plans with my daughter this weekend not gonna happen. Sitting here flat broke and completely discouraged after reading the reviews…I just want ALL my money OFF this card!
And how is it this card or any card for that matter gets to dictate a limit on how much of MY money I can withdrawal?
Check into cash and US Money Card is a nightmare! …. wish I had read the reviews and ratings would have saved me a WHOLE lot of trouble and headache….and the nightmares not over yet!

I know that it’s been quite sometime since you posted your review but me and my husband just went through a bunch of bull with US Money and our situation may help you if you haven’t already gotten your money from them.
Our stimulus check went on our US money card because of us having that card for our taxes biggest mistake ever!! But the card was in my husband’s name and they locked us out of that account couldn’t log in online nothing.
But we finally talked to one lady and she told him to get me to go to a check into cash get a card in my name and then he could transfer the money from his card to mine. Mind you, you will have to go through a long ass security process and who ever has the card you are trying to transfer it to needs to be around you because they too will be asked a series of security questions.
But after that they will transfer it eventually took 2 days then they put a block on my card because of supposed suspicious activity. They called I answered questions and the hold was lifted well it was lifted the next morning when I called them because my card was declined at a store.
At the end of the day these cards are crap!! But I have access to our money now and if you never got yours maybe this a way you can get it

Do not bank with us money card they will allow people to take anywhere between 80 up to 1,500 out of your account and will not pay that people are taking people debit cards and making them out of the machine and forming their own pin numbers
and then using them at ATM machine to take your money out of your account USA money will not do a full investigation they will send you a letter back up compliance saying that they will not pay you.

Howard-
Greetings and thanks for sharing your customer problem with the US Money Prepaid Visa.
So sorry for your hardship. Why did they say they locked your account?
Did you speak to their customer service 800 number I assume?
On a positive note, U S Money has temporarily lowered their card fees until June 30th (due to COVID I assume) as follows. Doubt if this will help much, but a good gesture (we still give it a low rating- the first column is their usual fee and the 2nd is their temp fee):
One-Time Account Setup: $5.95 $0
Monthly Fee $3.00 $3.00 ††
PIN Purchase $0.50 $0
Card to Card Transfer $1.50 $0
ATM Cash Withdrawal $1.50 $0.85
ATM Balance Inquiry $1.00 $0.50

US money locked me out of my account, and is refusing the use of my card. I have around 1,173.00 in my account. I’ll probably never see it again. They just put me in financial hardship, by taking money that I worked for, that’s not even there’s to take.
So that they don’t take any deposit from me, i got hold of my boss, and asked him not to deposit my paycheck into my account. I have 2 kids to take care of, US money doing that, really put the hurt to me. 🙁
UNBELIEVABLR…US MONEY CARD, THE WORST CARD COMPANY EVER…HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS???????? I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE…THEY WONT GIVE ME MY $120 BACK…I KNOW IT MAY BE A SMALL AMOUNT BUT WE ARE JUST STARTING LIFE HERE IN AMERICA AND EVERY PENNY COUNTS AND I WORKED HARD FOR THAT MONEY…THEY HAVE SO MANY REQUIREMENTS AND THEY ARE GIVING YOU THE RUN AROUND…..WHEB I CALLED THEM FRUSTRATED AS IT IS ALREADY…CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE HANGED UP ON ME…SO YES!!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!

First time using the US Money card and will be the last!! I had a cancelled transaction with a company I was purchasing car insurance. US money reprensitive told me it will take 30 days to but my money back on my card or have the company type a letter what happened. The insurance do not see the transaction that was made from my card. I called the insurance co. They told me all I need to do is call US money and asked them for email or fax stating the money was pending. They will gladly give me my money back. After 10 calls and asking them for emails explaining what happened. I still don’t have my money!! Whoever read this comment do not deal with this company!!

This truly sounds unbelievable. It does sound like something very strange going on here. As you see from the earlier comment, we have received a complaint before about the company closing an account out of the blue. They eventually did get their money back, but it took a couple of weeks. I would definitely recommend going with a different card, but be persistent in trying to get your money back, especially if it is not just a small sum. I did try to call the number listed on the website, but I stopped the process when they asked for my 16 digit card number. I did not hear an option for if you did not have a number.
I did a bit of digging as well and went to the Metropolitan Commercial Bank website. It looks like they are the issuer of the card, but they do not appear to be the ones that own the program. Below is from their website. This is the link. If you can not find someone to speak with from the company that runs the US Money card, go to this link and contact the person at the bottom of the page. He should be able to point you in the right direction.
I am sorry you are having to deal with this, and I wish you the best of luck with sorting this all out. Please keep us updated on your progress and anything further you find out. With this kind of hidden practice, we can not recommend this card. I am dropping their star ratings right now.

CTrip- hey just canceled my account after 3 years with them. No notice and no reason other then it came from compliance department who I could not talk to. Left me hanging with bills and payments incoming and outgoing. Never had a company act so poorly.
Shane TripconyNovember 6, 2015 at 6:37 pm
C Trip, sorry you had to experience that. That seems very odd that a company would immediately cancel an account with no notice. First time I have heard of something like that on our site. I hope you were able to easily get any money you may have had on the account.
I wonder if there was some technical glitch that deactivated your account by mistake. Hopefully, you will have a better experience with another company. Wishing you the best for your next prepaid card. Take a look at some of our top cards here:
https://www.bestprepaiddebitcards.com/best-prepaid-debit-cards/
I would think with the bank issued cards you would not experience that. And you may get lower fees to boot!
C TripNovember 23, 2015 at 7:30 pm
Just an update. It took them 2 full weeks to get me a check for the remaining funds and when it does arrive they have over paid me. I call them to tell them that I was over paid and they are not listening. So at some random point in the future I am sure they will pull the funds with no notice to me.
Shane TripconyNovember 24, 2015 at 2:39 pm
Do you still have your account open, or is it closed? If closed, where can they draw the funds from?
Corryn GreshamMarch 13, 2016 at 5:08 pm
Coincidentally, they also cancelled my account and are keeping my money. When I tried to get legitimate info on who to hold accountable and where to file my claim, I was given the Metropolitan Commercial Bank with a Georgia address. Well as it turns out, the address belongs to FirstView Financial Bank. If you call to inquire why they are claiming to be one bank at another banks address, yet neither bank holds any account that matches my card, they get mad and hang up on me?!?!?! So then who is accountable for this card and how has this been allowed to go on?? I have now read about 15 similar complaints by U.S. Money card holders, all including the cancellation of their accounts with no prior notice, and a very rude and incompetent customer service. They only will list one number and one address and only one e-mail, no info about management or contacting a CEO, you can only speak with a “manager” of the card. But when I asked exactly who there CEO and President of their company is, I was given the name Jerry Uffner, which is the CEO of FirstView bank, not Metropolitan Commercial Bank in NY?!?!?!? There is some really elaborate scam going on here and when you try to get to the bottom of it, it just gets deeper.

I just had 200 dollars and now I have 28 dollar like I nvr experienced nothing like this I had a bill I was saving for now I just dnt no what to do its thanksgiving now my lights gonna be cut off did some one hack my account
Shane TripconyNovember 28, 2016 at 2:38 pm
Andrew,
I apologize on the delayed response. We were out for the holidays. I would recommend calling your bank or card issuer to find out what the problem may be. If fraud, they have procedures in place to get the money refunded.
Please comment back to let us know how things are moving toward getting your money back.

The worst service I’ve ever seen in my life I have an ATM machine not give me my $900 after using the u.s. money card it’s been almost 70 days and I still have not received my $900 back from u.s. money the bank that owns the machine says yes they have my $900 but they can’t give it to me and that u.s. money card has not even asked for the $900 to give it to me I get the same answer every time I call that it’s being researched this is the most shoddiest card company on the face of the Earth I’m so sick of dealing with them I think the best thing to do is call the Better Business Bureau in my attorney
Shane TripconyJuly 19, 2017 at 3:00 pm
I am sorry you are having to deal with this. Have you spoken to a manager or supervisor at the company yet? If not, I would definitely try that route. Keep asking to speak to another level up until you can get someone that can take immediate action. Reporting to the Better Business Bureau as well as your state’s Attorney General. You can also report to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). It does not hurt to post negative things on your Facebook as well informing people of your experience. Sometimes companies will find and respond to negative Facebook comments. I know this is infuriating. Hopefully, this will be rectified soon.

Update on me getting my money back from u.s. money card my incident happened on May 13th 2017 here it is July 24th 2017 I still haven’t got my $900 back they keep coming up with different excuses and as I prove them wrong and need to excuse now they just tell me I have to wait 60 days again because they messed up again this is totally uncalled for ridiculous the worst card company on the face of the Earth in my opinion I would not suggest this card company to anybody and now I am forced to call US government justice department and see what they can do about it but I really don’t see that all I ever get my 900 back until I get an attorney or we could get the fraud department of the government involved
Randy JonesAugust 2, 2017 at 8:17 pm
Well it’s been 81 days I’ve had to file my claim twice and I still have not got my $900 back from this bogus sorry no good card company I had to go get an attorney my attorney is tried to contact them by letter I’m giving them x amount of days and if I do not have my money my attorney is going to sue them and I’m not going to just accept my $900 back I won’t compensated for all my frustrations all my phone calls all my hours and hours and hours of being put on hold my attorney will get paid by them I have everything recorded every conversation I have everything documented everything said everybody I have talked to in the past 81 days on the website it says 45 to 60 days well that was a lie then also on their website it says if there is a dispute about money it would be put back in my account and then they would investigated well that’s a lie to it seems like to me the whole company is made up of nothing but a bunch of bogus lies
Shane TripconyAugust 4, 2017 at 3:20 am
This is ridiculous the number of hoops they are making you go through to get your money back. I do not blame you – I would be furious! I do not understand how they can not put you through to a supervisor. I was thinking that these calls had to be recorded, or at least that seems to be the case each time I speak to a financial services company. It would seem to me that they would not want not allowing you to speak to a supervisor on the record. I am sorry to hear your continued troubles, but keep on keeping on! Eventually, you will have to get your money back! This is a message to U.S. Money – it is time to be responsible and take care of your customers! There is a limit to what people should have to put up with, and this is beyond that.
I have dropped their rating due to the number of poor support complaints we are seeing in the comments. Just because features are offered or promoted, if core customer care is not priority one, it does not really matter what features are offered. If the core card functionality and customer service is compromised, it effectively makes the card product worthless to the cardholder.
SmithAugust 28, 2017 at 8:13 pm
Same experience. They canceled the card without notification on any kind. They said I needed to send in receipts of loads and/or check stubs. Also, asked for a refund of balance and they told me that they will have to approve it. Never got anywhere with it.
Shane TripconySeptember 6, 2017 at 7:13 pm
Sorry to hear you are dealing with that. You would think that with all the notifications that banks and card issuers were required to send out that they would have to send out something prior to a card cancellation. And not sending a refund of your balance, in my mind, is equivalent to stealing. Shame on their customer support! I hope you can ultimately get your money returned and closure on this issue.
