Cash back Debit Card

Part of the beauty of credit cards and debit cards is their ability to give you rewards. Of course, the rewards only really mean something if you use the cards wisely.

Unfortunately, while cash rebate credit and debit cards have grown in popularity, so has the confusion that surrounds them. Some programs change their rules often. Some provide higher rewards for some purchases but not others (and then they change the categories every quarter). Some cards have restrictions that others don’t.

The point is this: Not all cash back debit cards are created equal. And not every card is going to fit your lifestyle, purchases or financial goals. That’s why it’s important to do your research before signing up for any cash back card. Once you have your card, then it is important to maximize your earnings potential. Rating and Reviews of the USAA Cashback Rewards Checking Debit Card:

Best For Small Purchases:

Please note that you must have a military affiliation to join USAA. USAA has raised the bar on debit card cashback rewards (which typically are significantly less attractive than credit card rebate programs).

This account gives you ten cents back in rewards for every debit card purchase or transaction. So if you make a lot of small debit card purchases, the cash rebate could add up very quickly! A $2.00 purchase would yield you $.20, which is the equivalent of a 5% rebate (hard to get with any credit card rebate program). This checking account also features no monthly service fees, No minimum balance and No USAA fees on the first 10 non-USAA ATM withdrawals each month.

The $25 minimum initial deposit is waived for new recruits. Please note that the Chime Bank debit card gives the highest cash rebate referral that we are are of– $50 for you if you tell a friend or family member about Chime and they sign up (sign up online in 2 mins for more details) and $50 for you when they do.

Arkansas Federal Credit Union (AFCU): AFCU offers a rewards checking account with a high annual percentage rate APR of 3%.

For every $2.00 you spend, you receive 1 point. These points you can redeem for travel, electronics and more. And being a member of the credit union your direct deposited paycheck up to 2 days early.

Rating and Review of the BankAmeriDeals Debit Card:

This Bank of America incentive program allows online and mobile banking customers to enjoy special offers that give cash back perks on debit card purchases made at certain retailers.

The offers are only available through their app or online banking and the details of this program are limited, but they do claim to offer UP TO 15% in cash rewards, though we would guess it’s limited to just a few offers and is probably more like 1-2% back on most eligible purchases. Cardholders must first activate their cards online prior to making any purchases that will earn rebates.

Your BofA account will be automatically credited within 30 days following redemption. You can also activate and redeem deals to earn “Coins”. With the related BankAmeriDeals Coins program, the more coins you earn the more cash back you will get.

Rating and Review of the Axos Cash Rewards Debt Card:

Axos allows you to earn up to $2,000 per month in cash back on signature debit card purchases. Maintain a $1,500 average daily balance and you can earn 1% cash back on signature based transactions. If your average daily balance falls below $1,500 don’t worry they still offer 0.5% cash back.

And again they limit you to $2,000 per month in cash back. Unlimited ATM fee reimbursements for ATM withdrawals within this U.S. The cashback is deposited in to your Axos checking account. Radius Bank (Non Advertiser): Radius, which is a primarily an online bank, offers a cash rewards debit card that gives 1% back on all purchases with its Rewards Checking.

You never pay an ATM fee and there are no monthly or annual fees. They have been around for quite a while.

Finally, Discover offers the the no fee Discover cash back debit card (click for review of related Discover prepaid debit card): This card gives 1% back on all purchases (up to a maximum of $3000 in purchases each month).

You must open a Discover checking account in order to get their debit card. No monthly fee, no fee on orders of checks and no minimum balance or minimum activity requirements (such as requiring you to make so many purchases a month). These are just a handful of checking rewards / cash back accounts offered today.

My debit card with my credit union is doing something pretty unique in terms of cash rebates. It’s not offering cashback on each purchase or certain types of purchases but rather 1% interest aka dividends on my checking account for balances up to 10K with them if I spend $500 on my debit card and have electric deposits of $500 (like the direct deposit of my paycheck).

If I have an average daily balance in my premium checking account with them, this will give me 100 bucks each month, which is better than the 1 or 2% I would earn on spending $500 on my debit or credit card!

Plus, I avoid a $5 monthly maintenance fee. Anyone else have anything like this?

Before I get a card, thought I would do some research as to the best cashback offer. Would welcome your opinions.

The new WalMart cash rebate card is a capital one card that is tied to Walmart and higher payout on walmart purchases. Better for me since this is where I’ve been getting most of my products for my business.

If you know of a different card that gets best cash rewards with walmart. I found this one through a popup ad from my capital one card directly when paying my credit card bill.

I know your message above isn’t directly about this but seeing what you have on this

I need actually need to apply for two cards… One is for the biz that is connected with WMT and the other personality to replace my choice hotel card.

I don’t have anything for personal card yet. I will say that the any new card I get can not be with chase bank as my profile is still locked up with them on suspicious of fraud activity so need to get this cleared up. I guess I can create a new login. Just still upset with them!

We’ve used the American Airlines credit card since like 2000 I think. We pay the balance in full every billing cycle. If we didn’t, would not be the card of choice. We use it for the miles. We put most expenses on it to get the miles.

Any suggestions?

If your not married to airline reward cards, I think if you did the math you would do better with a 2% cashback program like Citi Double Cash above that gives 2% on all purchases with no caps. Very simple and no fee.

What’s the catch though?? I work for a small business and I think even on my reward credit cards (not debit cards), I pay something like 2.25% in merchant fees as a business.

So who’s paying CitiBank enough to keep their reward card program active? BC Mastercard will take a 0.25% fee.

Esp with a no annual fee card like Citi Double Cash. We pay…$50 or $100 in annual fees, I forget which, for our miles card and the owners credit score is perfect

By the way, We’ve used our air miles card since like 2000 I think. We pay the balance in full every billing cycle. If we didn’t, would not be the card of choice. We use it for the miles. We put most expenses on it to get the miles.

Great Insight as reward cards do charge merchants more (typically less for debit reward programs – The Durbin Amendment limits debit card interchange fees)

All I know is that I’ve used a 2% cash kickback card for years without cutting back and I know it’s partly based on volume. 🤔

Of course part of the answer is that some cardholders end up carrying a balance. 😩

I use the cash app debit card and save 10% at waffle house and save at Whole Foods. Also can choose the cash boost option to save $1.00 every time I buy coffee at just about any coffee shop. Love it.

All-

For my business, I have a INK from chase biz card that gives cashback. I also have spark capital one biz card that gives 2% back on every purchase. Both of these cards are easily paid off each month. I Never carry a balance nor am I ever late.

Wondering if I could do better with the Citi Double Cash Rebate card (even though I know its not a small biz card) as it also gives 2% back but has no annual fee. The Cap One Biz Card has an annual fee. 🙁 Thoughts?

I would say my fav cash back debit card for retail purchase is from amazon – it gives 5% cash back which is the Just same as the amazon Credit card I believe

we’ve had it for years and it’s set up on auto pay so we see our rebate applied automatically through our amazon account every month. Very seamless and easy once every is set up and since its a debit card we don’t have to worry about portential interest charges (not that we ever carry a balance)!

Hope this helps.

I have used the Citibank Double Cash Card for about 5 years now and love it – we put as much as we can on it to maximize our Annual rebates. For a while we were even able to put on kids private school tuition!

We charge a lot on our card and typically get 500-1000 back every year
That is paid as a statement crsdit.

So I can say cash rebate cards are not a gimmick – this one is Simple an
And straightforward with no caps. Would rate 5 stars ⭐️!

I love the Edward Jones cash rebate credit card and have used it for many years for personal use (don’t use it for my business). Would rate it with 5 stars. My daughter is a client and I used to be (but continue to use the card for just about everything I can).

I Earn 1 Loyalty rebate Point for every dollar I spend.

I pay my balance in full every month so I pay no interest (I’m a financial coach for a ministry, so try to practice what I preach!). 🙂

I use the Bank of America cash back credit card that gives 3% back on gas purchases and 1% back on everything else.

To be honest, I would rather not having a credit card; because most things are credit based, so it almost become an obligation to have it. I do like that I have the option available to me though.

I mainly use a debit card and really don’t drive a lot (other than to work) so I’m not really happy with this rebate card.
