The PNC debit card (SmartAccess Prepaid Card) is a prepaid Visa is one of the least expensive cards in the market. Activation on this card is free and the minimum deposit to open an account is only $25. Funds on the card are FDIC-insured, and the fee structure is clear and easy to understand. The most costly fee is the $5 monthly fee, which in comparison to other cards that charges more usage fees, makes the overall card fees very low.

Using the PNC SmartAccess Prepaid Visa, you can pay your bills online (through ChargeSmart). This prepaid debit card is also accepted anywhere that accepts Visas. However it is important to note this card is best suited for people who live or work near a PNC ATM; otherwise the ATM charge is $2.50, plus any additional fees imposed by the ATM owner. If you use the card at an ATM in another country, there is a $5 charge plus any fees imposed by the ATM owner and a 3% foreign transaction fee.

Among the features are 24 hour online banking, free ATM access on the PNC network, and a mobile app for your smartphone. Adding money to you card is easy and can be done by setting up direct deposit, making a deposit at any PNC branch, or with any Visa ReadyLink location (although there is a charge for the last option). There are no point-of-service fees for transactions.

Bottom line: This card has low fees, is easy to use, and could be a great alternative to checking accounts. It’s also a good candidate for a teen allowance card as well as customers who want to avoid overdraft fees and interest fees.

PNC smartacess card is full of crapp. Someone used my bank card. They spents $1000 of dollars. PNC has refuse to refund me my money. I have disputed this case 3 times. They’re ridiculous! You can’t speak to anyone in the dispute department. You can only talk to reps who can only read from notes that someone else has entered. Please stay away from this card. It’s not secured at all…

I am very sorry to hear you have not had a good experience with them. One would hope the support in an instance of this would be better, but I would not give up. I would try calling back and asking to immediately speak to a supervisor. Then, if they can not help, ask to speak to their supervisor and son on until you get someone to help you. If you can not get any response from them, I would recommend contacting your state’s Attorney General’s office and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to see if that can get you some traction on getting your money back. I wish you the best of luck. Please post back what happens.

I just want to know how long do I have to stay with the PNC SmartAccess account before I can be moved up to the virtual wallet account?

      Hi Frances,
That is a great question. We do not actually provide the card but only review it. I have found their phone number that you may call their support team to find an answer to your question.

PNC SmartAccess Cardholder Services at 1-866-304-2818

I hope they can provide some guidance in this area.

I’m curious to know if this card can help someone with there credit report? Unfortunately , the people at the bank are only looking to get you into something and not explaining in full detail the deal. Thanks

First time using the US Money card and will be the last!! I had a cancelled transaction with a company I was purchasing car insurance. US money reprensitive told me it will take 30 days to but my money back on my card or have the company type a letter what happened. The insurance do not see the transaction that was made from my card. I called the insurance co. They told me all I need to do is call US money and asked them for email or fax stating the money was pending. They will gladly give me my money back. After 10 calls and asking them for emails explaining what happened. I still don’t have my money!! Whoever read this comment do not deal with this company!!

I have been waiting for my smartaccess card for over 2mon!! It was suppose to be sent to the branch this time. Which was the 4th time they claimed to have sent my card!!! I still didn’t receive it there!!! Its really inconvenient for me to have to keep going in and out of branches especially when they aren’t always open and I don’t have access to MY money when I need it!! Its really irritating me now!!!

That is just crazy! I can’t believe they have not gotten your card to you. You would think they would want you to start spending so they could start collecting transaction revenue. I am sorry to hear you are going through this. Hopefully, they have this taken care of for you by now!
